Hot Cocoa Blog Hop


Hot cocoa on a cold winter's night will warm us through and through and fill us with delight. That is what we hope this hop will do for you so grab a cup of cocoa and start hopping along.

I decided to make a little "pocket" gift for a cocoa packet. I don't have any cocoa on hand (that should be a crime) so mine has a hot apple cider packet. Since packets will vary, you will want to measure the width and height of your packet, and then double the height. I added a quarter of an inch allowance for the packet to fit inside, plus an inch on top for it to fold over and add a bow.

My pocket is scored at 1, 5.5, 5 and 3 quarters, and then another 4.5 inches to allow for the back side of the "pocket." I hope that makes sense, I'm not sure how else to explain it.

I used Fiskars' threading waters border punch on the part that folds over, and punched a hole for the ribbon to go through.

I made my project as if there was a cocoa packet inside instead of apple cider, so please use your imagination. :)


I then stamped the snowman image on a leftover circle cutout from another project I used the Cricut for, colored a few parts of the snowman, and added a sentiment.

This project comes together quickly and would make great teacher or co-worker gifts.

Craft Your Passion (CYP) Challenge 139

Hello, everyone! I have the great honor of being a guest designer for the month of December with Craft Your Passion! I am so excited about this, and I hope you join me each Monday  this month so I can share all my ideas with you using great digi stamps! :)

Today I've made an ornament for my Christmas tree using the "In The Cold" digi from Robyn's Fetish. This is SUCH a cute digi. At first I thought I might make a card with it for the challenge, but then I got the bright idea to use it on an ornament. I think it turned out super cute, and it looks great on the tree with the lights shining behind it.

Can't wait to make some more projects with this image in the future.







First, I colored the image using colored pencils. I did my best to shade, but I am VERY beginner at that aspect. Then, I took a circle shape I've had for years and painted it a steel blue color. All you would need for this shape is some sort of heavy cardboard form, like an oatmeal cylinder. Just cut a piece off that is about an inch in width,and it would essentially be the same thing I used.

I then cut a piece of vellum cardstock that is roughly the same size as the circle. Dabbed some white paint on it to resemble heavy snow, then attached punched out snowflakes.

After that, I cut around the image, and adhered it the the vellum piece, leaving some space for a "shadow" behind it. I then stamped the sentiment, added some more snowflakes behind it, and a ribbon to hang it from the tree. Pretty simple, but so cute!

Custom Order: Baby Shower Thank You's

I was asked to make thank you cards for guests who attended a baby shower. They were to be in the Jemima Puddle Duck theme. I think they turned out super cute! :)



I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to help me do the background collage, and used two cuts from Lacy Labels for the white and green pieces behind the duck.

October 100 Cart Hop

For my first project, I made an antique-ish (or MY idea of antique, anyway) looking bookmark using Word Collage and Flower Shoppe. I used a cut from the Arts section of Word Collage for the background words on the bookmark. I apologize, I don't remember what size the words were cut at, as I forgot to write it down. I just did trial and error to find the size I thought was appropriate for the bookmark. Then, I took my Xyron create a sticker and ran all of the little pieces through to be able to adhere them easily to the bookmark. I should probably mention, that the size of my bookmark is 2 inches by 6 inches. I then used Flower Shoppe to cut a few leaves as an accent on the bottom of the bookmark. I did not use any dimensionals on this project. Since it's going in a book, you want it to be as flat as possible so you don't ruin the spine. I then inked over everything lightly (heavier around the edges) using Memento rich cocoa ink. I would probably laminate the entire bookmark if it's going to be used a lot.




Next is my project I did in honor of breast cancer awareness month. For this card, I used Stand and Salute, and Spring Holiday Cards. I got the ribbon and the camo shapes from Stand and Salute, and the card shape is actually an envelope cut from Spring Holiday cards. The ribbon shape is cut at 4 inches, and the camo shapes are cut at 3. I added pink rhinestones to bling up the ribbon a bit more, to make it special. To make the envelope shape into a card, I just cut off the tabs you would use to adhere it together to make an envelope, if that makes sense. This could be a very easy card to mass produce if you cut all the pieces out at once, and you get a nice "wow" factor when it's all done.

Family Blog Hop

Here is my idea of FAMILY.

I have been slowly working on this family themed paper bag mini album for a long time. It's one of those half finished projects that we all have and ignore in our craft rooms. I decided to pull it out and start working on it again. It's not done yet, and I'll probably change some things by the time it's done, but here's the progress so far. :)

Essentially for a paper bag album you fold the flap up, then glue them all together. Here is a video I found on Youtube that can describe the construction better than I can. Then, all you have to do is decorate it how you want to.

Veteran's Day Blog Hop

Good morning, and welcome to the start of the Veteran's Day Blog Hop! Thank you so much for hopping along with us. Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on Nov. 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and Nov. 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938. President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed legislation in 1954 to change the name to Veterans Day as a way to honor those who served in all American wars. The day honors military veterans with parades and speeches across the nation. A national ceremony takes place at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.

America is the Land of the Free, because of the brave. Veteran’s Day celebrates and acknowledges the service of all United States Military Veterans. Today we honor the brave men and women who have served in the American Military. With great respect, and a heart full of pride, we say a great big THANK YOU to those who have served. Please hop with us as we pay homage to the people who help keep America the Land of the Free.


Today I have created an 8.5 by 11 layout with my husband's picture from the Army.


Red layer - 8.5 by 11
Cream layer - 8.25 by 10.75
Blue layer - 8 by 10.5

American Pride was cut using the Stand and Salute Cricut Cart at 3.5 inches.
The flag was cut from the same cart at 3.472. I adhered it with foam tape and bent it to make it look like it was waving in the wind. Not sure I achieved that look, but I tried. 
I then simply matted the picture, and adhered it to the layout using foam tape.

Pretty simple project, but I'm happy with how it turned out.
